This color book features inspirational stories and hundreds of works of art from 50 of Hawaii’s master artists, including 25 from Hawaii Island, told by award-winning author Lynda McDaniel. Hawaii Island artists include Ellen Crocker, Mike Field, Scott Hare, Kate and Will Jacobson, Hugh Jenkins, Stephanie Ross, Joshua Johansen, Cliff Johns, Edwin Kayton, Mary Koski (1929-2015), Kristie Kosmides, Tai Lake, Kathy Long, Marlene Louchheim, Clytie Mead, Elizabeth Miller, John Mydock, Suzy Papanikolas, Vicki Penney-Rohner, Ida Perkins, David Reisland, Timothy Allan Shafto, Mary Spears, Shay Wahl, Shelly Maudsley White and Harry Wishard.
Shows and book signings have been scheduled to create opportunities for readers to meet the artists and have their book autographed. On Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., meet Kathy Long and Vicki Penney-Rohner at Volcano Art Center Gallery. On Nov. 27 and 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., meet DeEtte Shafto, the book curator and producer, and several of the featured artists will be at the art center.
